HardiePlank siding on Mandarin Townhouse
Actually two different townhomes on Peppermill Lane off of Losco. These home had cedar lap siding on the front and T1-11 panels on the sides and back. We installed HardiePlank and HardieTrim and a custom Sherwin Williams paint job.
On both of these homes you can see how they looked before by looking at the neighbors house on the right.
Ortega carport replacement with french doors.
Our goal with this Two story block house is to provide an office for a work at home businessman. We removed the existing carport and built a Sunroom using a HardirPlank KneeWall, Simonton Slider windows and a PGT french door.
Many people are surprised to see that Martin Home Exteriors sunrooms have no wood in the construction. You can see here that the framing is all aluminum, the first roof panel is in place. These “sandwich” panels are 3″ thick with aluminum on the top and bottom, insulation in between. They are strong enough to walk on!
A unique feature of this Sunroom is a 4′ french door. I prefer outswing doors, they are secure, they are more weathertight than a inswing and they do not take up valuable space inside.
a
Vaulted screen room in St. Augustine
Our challange was to build an inexpensive screen room that would take advantage of the Lake view, also to fit HOA concerns for the roof to match the existing. What do you think?
PGT Vinyl Sliding Glass door.
I have fielded alot of questions lately about sliding glass door replacements. Here is a PGT vinyl framed slider, Double pane glass with Low E coating and a Argon gas fill. The door installed (normal difficulty) is $1500 to $1700. The grid is optional.
PGT also makes Impact (hurricane) sliding glass doors like this one.
Mandarin Hardie Plank and screen room with PGT Eze Breeze windows.
In December we transformed this Mandarin (Huntington Forrest) house. We replaced the t1-11 wood siding with Hardie ColorPlus siding. (heathered Moss color), we Painted the rest of the house with Sherwin Williams Paint. The old screen room was removed and we added a new screen room with a Hardie Plank KneeWall to match the house, Pgt Eze Breeze Vinyl windows and a SolaTube skylight.
One of my Favorite options to add to a screen room is the extra porch area for a grill, Screen room guys call these “Combo” rooms, the extra overhang is useful for sitting or grilling.
To add light to the room we added this SolaTube Slylight.
Orange Park remove Masonite siding, Install Khaki Brown ColorPlus HardiPlank
Most of the split level ranch houses built in this era have Masonite siding installed directly over the studs. Brierwood is another area with lots of Masonite.
When we tear off the siding you can see the studs. Florida Building Code requires us to install sheeting (plywood or OSB) before the siding.
New sheeting is installed, the wall is protected with HardieWrap, trimmed in white ColorPlus HardieTrim, then Khaki ColorPlus Hardie Plank.
Finished!

HardiPlank on ST. Johns 2 story- Suprise under existing siding.
We were hired to install HardiePlank on the majority of this house. A contractor previously installed Hardi on the south wall of the house, we noticed the install was not correct, we removed the trim and found rot, so we removed everything. A lesson to learn also for homeowners- Annually inspect your caulking at the trim, this one had never been re-caulked.
Notice the rot at all four corners of the window.
The studs on both sides of the window were rotten. Below, we have put it back together, with the HardiWrap installed and the HardieTrim properly installed and ready for the siding.
