However picking complementary colors can increase your homes resale value. Picking colors for your house takes up a lot of planning and if possible, it is advised that you consult an expert. Picking house painting colors is definitely not an easy task, so much that it is one of the toughest parts of having your house painted.

Because it is rather tricky, here are some tips that you can use if you are caught in the dilemma of picking which color to put where. Let's start with the obvious.

What is the focal point of your room? Is it a chair or sofa or something small like a favorite pillow or other knick knack. Where do you want the focus in your room to be? I have seen plenty of mistakes where clients chose a color in a room with a dim incandescent light and when the room was painted were horrified with the results.
